Mr. Anthony spent a week in December going into classrooms to talk to 8th grade students about career exploration. Students had to complete an activity about their wants and likes in life to determine what a monthly budget would be for their lifestyle. They were then given a random career with a set salary range. After that they needed to determine if they could afford their lifestyle with their “chosen” career. This leads to the students choosing a career pathway to explore in more depth. Then students were deeply engaged in the activity and generated lots of discussion on the subject.
